Awareness Generation

Awareness generation among the target people is essential for the promotion of society. People should be accustomed to various aspects of social life to build a better civil society. Akshara jana vidya kendram has conducted a number of awareness generation classes on various socially relevant issues. Following are some of the programmes conducted in connection with social Welfare Board, SRC, Govt Medical college Trivandrum, youth welfare board,NABARD,postal department.

Science Day Awareness

One day awareness programme on the science day conducted on February 28,2014, at Mancadu community hall.

Forest day

A symposium on social forestry was conducted on june 5,2014 , at tholikkode

Rain water harvesting

Awareness on rain water harvesting was conducted at Panakkodu on July 24,2014

Awareness against Liquor and drugs

An awareness class on liquor and drugs was conducted on September 20,2014 at anapetty

Awareness on SHG

An awareness class on SHG was conducted on November 7,2014, at Thuruthi

Awareness On Aids

An awareness class on AIDS conducted on December 1,2014 at Anapetty.

Special Emphasis for continuing education programme

Continuing education provides an opportunity to the people at grassroots level to strengthen their literacy skills and take up their activities, such as continue their education, increase their income and improve the quality of their lives.the aim of continuing education is to provide an institution in the form of continuing education centres(CECs)to promote and faster informal learning through variety of programmes.

Participation and collaboration

Water conservation programmes:75 members from Akshara Jana Vidya kendram participated a rally in connection with a water Conservation programmes conducted by Halanidhi on December 8,2013 at Charachira,Thiruvananthapuram.

Seminar on Water and Culture:Five members attended the programme conducted by water authority on March 22,2014.

Umbrella making: Training programme in umbrella making was conducted at cheruppani from January 17-feb 12 2014.sobana George, chairperson, community development society, Tholikkode Grama panchayath, inaugurated the programme.

Curry powder Making:Training programme on curry powder making was conducted at thottumukku from February 17-25 2014.president, Tholikkodu grama panchayath, inaugurated the programme twenty members from nearby SHGs attended the programme.

Food products:training on food products was conducted at Mannorkkonam from march 10-20 2014.president, Tholikkodu grama panchayath, inaugurated the programme twenty members from nearby SHGs attended the programme.

Coconut based Food products:A training programme on coconut based food products was conducted at Thachancode from February 10-20 2014.P.N Prakash, Ex.president, Tholikkodu grama panchayath, inaugurated the programme.Prof.Varghese ,member, state human right commission attended the valediction of the programme on march 20 2014at the vanitha workshed, tholikkodu and certificates were distributed at the function.

Candle making:Training programme on candle making was conducted at Maruthamala from November 15-28 2014. Muralidharan Nair, chairman, standing committee for development, Vithura Grama Panchayath inaugurated the programme.

Poultry farming: An orientation programme on poultry farming was conducted at Koppam from December 10-15,2014. Sudarsanan, member, vithura Grama Panchayath, inaugurated the programme.

Soap making:A skill development programme on soap making was conducted at Chettachal from October 2-10,2014. Vipin. L.B, President, Vithura grama panchayath formally inaugurated the programme.

Squash and Jam making:Training programme on squash and Jam making was conducted  at Thevanpara from march 10-15-2014..Vice president , Tholikkodu grama panchayath, inaugurated the programme twenty five women  attended the programme.

Adoloscent programme:conducted in association with kerala state youth welfare board and child development center, thiruvanathapuram medical college. About 2500 beneficiaries involved in this programme  titled”Kowmarasangamam”.
